This series documents how people living in the informal settlements in South Africa access meat. Meat is a luxury, culturally significant, and a major part of daily diet, but there is no infrastructure in place to meet the health requirements laid out by the government. Governments response is to pull  a blind eye as to clamp down on illegal meat production would cause riot, and to provide necessary infrastructure is beyond their imagination.

this work was presented at the urban animals conference at the stellenbosch institute for advanced study in 2017.
