210kms of self navigated, off-trail running at close to 3000m altitude. it is safe to say this is no ordinary race, and one which places 'trail running' back in the mountains where it is necessary to understand the elements and not only rely on physical strength, but your knowledge and Witt as well.
Filming this took incredible thought as access to the route always involved a 15km hike, and often hours of driving between locations.  with only 9 teams to work with, 4 of which dropped out, options for shots were limited. But luckily the Drakensburg always delivers, and we walked away from the sleepless nights with only good memories and an experience like no other. And a strong desire to enter this race next year.
